Global Caché and Lantronix Sign Agreement to Form Strategic Marketing and Technology Development Alliance

Alliance Provides Framework for Marketing and Delivering Complementary Solutions for Home Control and Automation

San Jose, CA and Las Vegas, NV USA - November 18, 2002 - (Lunch@Piero's/COMDEX Fall 2002) Global Caché and Lantronix® (Nasdaq: LTRX), both providers of products that network-enable products and technology in the home, announced today they have signed a strategic alliance agreement. The agreement permits the two companies to work closely together in defining, marketing and delivering products that address the fast-growing home automation and control market.

Lantronix Applications Division, formerly Premise Systems, Inc., which was acquired by Lantronix in January 2002, develops software for intelligently controlling appliances, electronic devices, HVAC and security systems, and information and entertainment services. Global Caché manufactures the GC-100 Home Network Adapter that provides the means for PC-based home automation and management software to access, control, and deliver services in a networked home to diverse devices and appliances. In combination, the companies' products can provide a complete, powerful and cost-effective home automation solution.

"We approached Lantronix during the design phase of the GC-100," said Walt Keller, president of Global Caché. "Recognizing that Premise Systems, now owned by Lantronix, pioneered the concept of providing software solutions built upon open systems and industry standards in the home automation and control market, we wanted its validation that we were on the right track with our product. Not only was Premise willing to give us its time and perspective on the GC-100, it was instrumental in fine-tuning the actual product definition and future direction. We realized early on that Premise was a valuable partner for us." Keller added, "We're very pleased that we've solidified our relationship even further with this agreement."

The Global Caché GC-100 Home Network Adapter is a flexible and easy to use hardware device connecting IR, relay, serial and digital I/O devices to a network. The GC-100 addresses the growing number of homes with high-bandwidth Internet and networking capability, and enables the use of network-based software to control and automate diverse devices throughout the home.

Lantronix is the provider of Premise SYS® Home Control Software, a modular, open standards-based system that delivers cost-effective automation solutions that are easy to install, modify and maintain, either onsite or remotely. Using Premise SYS, easily customizable end user interfaces are automatically generated and are accessible throughout the home from commonly available touchpanels, PDAs and cell phones as well as over the Internet.

Dan Quigley, executive vice president of Lantronix, Applications Division said, "Due in part to the prevalence of the Internet and distributed A/V components in the home, technology is now shifting from expensive proprietary systems to open systems, much like corporate computing did in the 1980s. Teaming up with Global Caché, which provides such a complementary product to ours, ensures that our integrators and installers will make that shift to open standards as painlessly and profitably as possible by supplying targeted solutions that work reliably together and are easy to implement and use."
