Home Automated
Living (HAL) and Global Caché Form Strategic Alliance
Leader in Home Control Software and Emerging Hardware
Company Team Up to Deliver Value and Performance to Customers
San Jose, CA - September 16, 2003 - Global
Caché, award winning manufacturer of products that enable
technology in the home, and Home
Automated Living (HAL), the international
leader in home control software, announced today they have signed
a strategic alliance agreement. The companies will work together
closely to provide compatible and optimized products to their customers.
HAL software and hardware products deliver full featured, integrated
control for all home systems including lights, devices, climate,
home audio/video, security, and telephone. Users may control a
HAL integrated system by Web browser from any screen on the home
network or from any Internet connection outside the home. In addition,
users may control their home by voice from anywhere using HAL's
speaker independent, conversation speech interface – via
phone or microphone.
Global Caché's GC-100
Home Network Adapter connects home
networks to infrared (IR), serial (TVs and DVDs), and relay (lighting
and pool/spa) devices so that they can be accessed and managed
simply and inexpensively by network-based software. Global Caché's
new GC-IRE product provides the ability to learn full frequency
IR commands, initiate actions, and record IR sequences for playback
to other locations in a networked home. Combined, the companies'
products deliver a powerful and cost-effective solution for installers
and system integrators, and resellers.
CEO Tim Shriver said the HAL team recognizes the strategic importance
of Global Caché's technology. "The Global Caché Home
Network Adapter plays a crucial role in helping HAL communicate
with disparate home systems over the home network as HAL seeks
to fill the role as the 'operating system for the home.'"
"We are excited to be working with the team at HAL," said
Global Caché President Walt Keller. "We have a lot
of respect for their Company and their innovative and powerful
product line. As the market for home control and automation continues
to expand, it's important that companies like ours partner to provide
system integrators and dealers plug-and-play compatibility to enable
them to do their jobs easily and inexpensively. We know that this
new partnership will provide true value to the dealer channel."
