Global Caché Introduces
New Sensors and Accessories
New product offering provides video, voltage, contact
closure sensors, and conversion cables for connecting other environments
to a network.
Orlando, FL - March 10, 2004 - (EHX Spring
2004 Booth #742) Global Caché, the award winning provider
of products that enable technology in homes and businesses, announced
today it will immediately begin shipping an offering of new products
which includes several new sensors that provide the ability to
detect the power state of video screens, electronic equipment,
and contact closures. When used with the Global Caché GC-100
Network Adapter, information from the sensors can be sent over
a network and used by IP-based software to automate and control
devices throughout the home. The sensors will work with other compatible
controllers.
"Global Cache has, once again, brilliantly solved another
piece of the IP control puzzle: network support for old-fashioned
legacy products that have inadequate control mechanisms," said
Rich Green, President and CEO of Rich Green, Ink, a Palo Alto design/installation
company. "Global Cache sensors that communicate over a network
are an integrator's dream come true."
Global Caché's new sensor and accessory products include:
GC-SV1 Video Out Sensor – The GC-SV1 monitors the on-and-off
status of video equipment and is ideally suited for determining
the power state of DVDs and VCRs. The device can be plugged directly
into the Global Caché GC-100 Network Adapter connecting
the sensor to the network. The GC-SV1 will work with other manufacturer's
controllers that provide 5V power and accept digital logic (TTL)
input.
GC-SP1 AC/DC Voltage Sensor – The GC-SP1 monitors the on-and-off
status of electronic components. Voltages up to +/- 5V can be connected
to the GC-SP1 to determine the powered state of equipment, power
strips (using a wall adapter), or a "ring" condition
on a telephone circuit. The GC-SP1 is optically isolated and clamped
by a transient voltage suppressor to ensure circuit isolation and
protection. The device can be plugged directly into the Global
Caché GC-100 Network Adapter connecting the sensor to
the network. The GC-SP1 will work with other manufacturer's controllers
that provide 5V power and accept digital logic (TTL) input.
GC-SC1 Contact Closure Sensor – The GC-SC1 detects the open-and-closed
status of a pair of isolated contacts, such as a relay or switch.
It is ideally suited for detecting closure on drapery controllers,
thermostats, security contacts, and door strikes. The GC-SC1 filters
out false triggers associated with typical contact bounce. The
device can be plugged directly into the Global Caché GC-100
Network Adapter connecting the sensor to the network. The GC-SC1
will work with other manufacturer's controllers that provide
5V power and accept digital logic (TTL) input.
In addition to the new sensors, Global Caché is announcing
the immediate availability of conversion cables used to connect
a Xantech environment to a network. The offering includes the following
cables:
GC-CGX IR Converter Cable, GC-100 to Xantech – The
GC-CGX is used to connect a GC-100 IR output to a Xantech IR
input. GC-100
IR outputs are converted to meet the IR input requirements
for a Xantech distribution environment. IR signals from 30KHz
to 72KHz
can now be sent through a Xantech IR installation directly
from a GC-100.
GC-CXG IR Converter Cable, Xantech to GC-IRE – The
GC-CXG is used to connect a Xantech IR output (any IR emitter
port) to
the GC-IRE. Xantech IR outputs are converted to meet the IR
input requirements for the GC-IRE. IR signals received by Xantech
IR
products can now be digitized by the GC-IRE for networked installations.
The GC-CXG is optically isolated to ensure circuit isolation
and protection.
"We've seen amazing growth in the last few years in the number
of homes being networked," said Walt Keller, President of
Global Caché. "Homeowners want to take advantage of
what their connected home can offer them. We're excited to now
give dealers and installers more tools they need to provide those
features their customers are looking for."
In separate announcements Global Caché launched two additional
products, an IR Learner to aid in quick and easy IR database creation,
and an IR Extender that digitizes IR commands for use over a network.
The GC-IRL and GC-IRE are available immediately.
