Global Caché Releases
the GC-IRE IR Extender and IR Receivers for use in Networked
Homes
New product converts IR commands to digital data
that can be used over a network for complete IR control, and is
used with various IR input devices for flexibility.
Orlando, FL - March 10, 2004 - (EHX Spring
2004 Booth #742) Global Caché announced today the immediate
availability of the Global Caché GC-IRE. The GC-IRE extends
infrared capability by converting IR signals to digital data that
can then be read from any PC or RS232 port. The GC-IRE is designed
for use with various IR input devices to capture IR commands that
can be recorded, played back, and used to initiate actions across
a network. The GC-IRE also works with conversion cabling to connect
a Xantech environment to a network.
The following Global Caché IR receivers and conversion cable
are available immediately and designed for use with the GC-IRE:
GC-RG1 IR Receiver – The GC-RG1 is able to capture and
digitize IR frequencies from 30KHz to 72KHz. Most IR equipment
falls within this range.
GC-RF1 IR Receiver – The GC-RF1 is able to capture and
digitize IR frequencies from 30KHz to 500 KHz. This capability
ensures that all equipment, including B&O can be controlled
using the GC-IRE.
GC-CXG Converter Cable – The GC-CXG is used to connect
a Xantech environment to the GC-IRE, digitizing IR signals received
by Xantech equipment and allowing it to be used in a networked
environment.
Employing state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques and proprietary
software filtering, Global Caché's IR receivers are highly
resistant to plasma and lighting interference. In addition, the
GC-IRE is designed to operate with commonly used IR receivers with
carrier frequencies ranging from 32 KHz to 500 KHz.
Here's what some of our partners are saying about the GC-IRE: "We expect the IRE to be very well received by our dealers," said
Mike Menard, a CorAccess Vice President. "IR input capability
over a network really adds value, and IR learn is something our
installers and dealers have been asking for."
"The GC-IRE is small, easy-to-use, and has been integrated
into our software package to work right out of the box," said
Joe Storm, MPlus CEO. "Network-based automation software that
can control devices through IP anywhere in the home with devices
like the GC-IRE from Global Cache is the future for home control."
"We're excited to see that Global Caché has added
IR receivers to their product line," said Mark Stiving, President
and CEO of Destiny Networks, a hands-free home automation provider. "Now
our dealers can easily control multiple home theaters using the
Ethernet backbone instead of manually running all of the necessary
control wires."
The GC-IRE joins the family of GC-100 Network Adapters addressing
the growing number of homes with high-bandwidth Internet and networking
capability and enables the use of network-based software to control
and automate IR, serial, and relay contact closure.
